Yellow Hat

YELLOW HAT d.o.c. 8/16/23 Paxton, Fabricius, O’Brien

The leaves are turning yellow brown and red
The sun is low on the horizon
My thoughts start runnin’ all around my head
Where they take me is surprising

I remember like it was yesterday
The yellow hat that you were wearing
We laughed and shuffled through the leaves on the ground
We felt that we were bold and daring

Look at us now, another winter’s coming on
We’ve seen it all and we’re still hanging on
The snow is falling I can taste it on my tongue
it tastes as sweet as it did when we were young

We thought we would travel all over the world
And it was ours for the taking
Maybe God was laughing as we made our plans
And maybe plans were made for breaking

We had our children, they took up all our time
We filled the house to overflowing
The house seemed small, now it feels much to large
And it’s time that we were going.

Look at us now, we’re packing up the car
You’re still so beautiful, you’re my movie star
I’m glad we found this in a box we kept old books in
The yellow hat you still look good in.
The yellow hat you still look good in.
